Heat of the Summer
Why not stay in the air conditioned house and eat ice cream while sitting on the kitchen floor when the temperature outside is 93 with a real feel of 103? Talk about hot and that is exactly what it felt like about a week ago! What have you been doing to have fun and stay cool this summer? Cecelia and Margaret like to play in the pool, on their splash pad, and with their sand and water toys, They enjoy cooling off by eating ice cream, icees and drinking lots of cold water! The girls also like riding around in their toy cars and hanging out in their play house. They enjoy going down the slide, swinging, and chalk drawing. When it isn’t super hot, they like going on stroller rides as well as riding bikes and trikes. Cecelia and Margaret also love walking independently which is why mom and dad are always right next to them in order to keep them safe!
Playing it Safe
Cecelia and Margaret actually inform me when it’s too hot and when they would like to go inside because of the heat. It’s usually verbalized more through Cecelia since she is at the age where she can say more words and talk in complete sentences sometimes. I also always keep an eye on the actual temperature, the real feel temperature, and the humidity. I’ve read where young children actually get hotter faster than adults which is why it is important to make sure your kids are staying hydrated and that you take lots of indoor breaks to insure that the heat isn’t harming them. How do you make sure you are taking the crucial safety measures that allow your children to have fun and stay safe? What steps will you take the next time you step out into the heat, especially with young children?

It gets so hot in the summer. I hate feeling super hot!
It’s been hot in chicago but now luckily it’s cooled down a bit. We stay indoors on those super hot days or if we go out we make sure to have sunscreen and extra bottles of h2o!
Sounds like you have a good plan! I’m glad it’s cooling down! It’s finally starting to here too!
Me too! Add the humidity to the heat and is just feels awful!
It stinks that this summer has been a little more limited with what you can do. But I’m glad you all are making the most of it!
I agree! Thank you!
It’s been really hot here too and I’m pregnant and can’t take it LOL. My kids love it but will complain when it gets too hot, luckily.
Oh wow! I don’t know how you do the heat during pregnancy! Hang in there!!
Even though it’s sooooo hot we try to get some outside time too. I can’t wait until we can get out more when the temperatures cool down this fall! We lived in Canada for a few months for my husband’s job and it was amazing to spend a summer there!! I could actually go outside and the weather was amazing.
Canada-that sounds delightful!
When my kids were younger, we had a big paddling pool in the garden and that helped a lot as the kids used to dip in and out when needed.
Congrats on starting your blog as well.
Thank you so much! So glad you had the pool for you kids!
My daughter and I both love swimming on hot summer days.
Pools and ice creams really are the way to go in this hot summer weather! We’re stocking up on popsicles in the fridge! & Congratulations on starting your new blog! It’s coming together nicely!
Thank you so much! Sounds like you guys have figured out how to beat the heat!
We love our outdoor time but we go early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the heat.
That is so smart!
I HATE the heat! Mainly because I walk outside and I’m immediately sweaty 🙁 Congratulations on starting a blog outside of Facebook! I’m looking forward to reading about your journey.
I completely understand! I’m not a fan of the heat either! Thank you so much!
It’s been really hot here too! We like staying in when it gets over 90!
That sounds like a good plan!
I love playing outside with my son. So much more room to play and bigger toys! When I gets too hot we go in the garage and have the fan run so he still has lots of room to play!
So glad you guys love playing outside! Our girls like playing in the garage too! A fan-brilliant! 😀
Congrats on your new blog! Your girls Re adorable! Ice cream is ALWAYS a good idea, whether it’s hot or not 😜 We enjoy the heat – but not so much the humidity! We aren’t in any rush for summer to be over, though. I look forward to seeing what Cecilia and Margaret are up to next!
Thanks so much!! I agree about the ice cream and we don’t enjoy the humidity either!
We’re really struggled this summer with the heat and rain! It’s so hot, rains for a bit, and then the humidity doubles and it’s AWEFUL. But yes, staying hydrated is a must.

Definitely! Where do you guys live? We’re in Kansas City, MO.
Look how cute those kiddos are! Such a great read (:
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
Nice to read…kids really find fun in those stuffs. Jotted down very well.
Thank you!
Yes! It can get so hot! Our secret is to bring a spray bottle of ice water with us on our walks, trips to the zoo, etc…when we get too hot we spray ourselves down and it really helps. The ones with the attached fan are awesome for this!
That’s brilliant! We were just at the zoo last weekend and they had huge fans that were spraying water! Felt so good!
